Building That List …

Recently I received an email about this site … the sender, someone I didn’t know, asked why I haven’t posted anything in such a long time.

Well … I’ve been working on a bunch of other projects and I am totally focused on those, not this space.

I’m currently writing a report for a JV Social Media Giveaway to help jump start my list building. I think this is a great way for rookies to build a seed list. Anyone can join, there is a free level and paid levels.

The Rookie & The Shiney New Thing

When I first started with Affiliate Marketing, I was a real disaster. I jumped around from idea to idea, every new email in my inbox caught my attention. I kept buying and trying the latest and greatest and working them in a half assed way … until the next email came through my inbox promising the next “Can’t Miss Secret” to making an income from the internet.

Here’s the thing, I wasn’t the exception. 90+% of people who attempt to generate an income on the internet never make a dime, but they spend a lot of money on the “Shiney Things.”

Is this you?

If it is don’t worry, this happens to almost everyone who jumps into internet marketing. The people who succeed are the people who can recognize this problem and change their activities and their “mind-set.” I’ve never found the “sure-fire, can’t miss” system for getting away from the “Shiney Thing Syndrome.” It’s something everyone has to figure out for themselves. But there are a few things you can do to help this process along.

  1. Set a main goal and write it down. (example: replace my mortage payment).
  2. Break out your main goal into bite sized chunks. (example: replace my grocery bill or even more simple – buy a tank of gas)
  3. Pick one of the systems you already own and focus on that system for a month. Work hard – success isn’t a gift.
  4. Review your progress – have you achieved a bite sized chunk or two?
    • If not – work hard for one more month and review. Still no progress – change to a different system or make adjustments to the one you are working
    • If you’ve achieved a bite sized chunk or two … continue to do what made you get to the chunks and work hard.
  5. Unsubscribe from email lists that flood your inbox with nothing but the next shiney thing. Only follow those who offer substance along with their offers.
  6. Ignore all offers while you are focused on your choosen system.

Bottom line – there is no guarantee, no matter what some will claim. There is no “lazy” way to make an income online – it takes work. Most of the work is on the front end, but when you hit something that works for you the rest is really just maintenance.

Keep working – it is possible to supplement your income online and it is also possible to replace your income online.

Wall Of Shame – October 30, 2010

I’ve had an unfortunate experience just recently with the Internet Marketing world. I purchased a product that Edmund Loh was selling. It was a mediocre PLR product, but I thought I could repurpose it in the near future with another product I was working on. I purchased the product through an affiliate link from Simon & Jeremy at Memberspeed.com. The main selling point was the “Lifetime Platinum Membership Access To ResellRightsMastery.com” … this is what I was interested in receiving.

So, I bought the product. Followed all the instructions and when I downloaded the PLR product I discovered that the membership offer was for the lame “Gold” level membership instead of the “Platinum” level.

That’s not what I paid for … not even close.
So, since I have a Real World job that takes up 70 hours a week of my time and a fledgling internet business that I am trying to improve I decided not to mess with this issue and I requested a refund.

Well … guess what. These scammers refused to give me a refund. They said I didn’t follow all the directions and send an email to this place and prove that I purchased …. blah, blah, blah. I followed their written directions and they delivered an inferior product.

Bottom line … they advertised a refund policy and then refused to issue a refund.

Do not buy anything from Edmund Loh or Simon & Jeremy at Memberspeed.com. They are scammers who give the internet marketing world a bad name.

You ever tell someone that you are in “Internet Marketing” and see them wrinkle their nose? These people are the reason why this business has a poor reputation.

Honestly, even if I actually receive a refund from these people over the next several weeks … I’ll NEVER buy another product or read another email from them … ever.

All of this is my opinion based on my experience and I am excercising my rights by writing this on my blog.

Howdy

Okay … we’ll be getting this site rolling very soon. Stay Tuned.
